Vickie Byron is an artist based in Queens who paints the geometric understructures of NYC, its bridges, subways, and burial grounds, embedding text in the painted architecture of the city in an expression of its culture and social history. Her paintings’ filmstrip-like frames and fast moving compositions capture the visual speed and repeating rhythms of a 21st century city in flux.
