STARK CITY

In this recent series, stage-like and graffiti-charged architecture was paired with subway tracks, circus tents, and bell jars to explore themes of isolation, gentrification, and multiculturalism. Text has been layered into the walls of the city, embedding its literature and politics. Geometric compositions explore movement and stillness with fast tracks and ever-waiting figures. Theatrical subway stops mark the intersections of cross-cultural influences, from ancient calligraphy to street art, with stops at sites that combine classical, medieval, and industrial architecture.
