VICKIE BYRON
STARK CITY
In this series, the city is an empty stage made of subway platforms and fences that allude to social movement and advancement, as well as barriers and isolation. Recognizable stops along the J train mark the intersection of commerce and culture, from Classical architecture to White Castle and commercial industry. Text is layered on the walls of the city, embedding its socio-economic history. Geometric compositions depict movement and stillness with fast tracks and ever-waiting figures.
